The End of vacay is always bitter sweet

We left Palm Beach last night and had our first full day home. It’s always sad leaving my family. After all of these years of living away I still get sad leaving my mom at the airport. Yesterday our flight kept getting delayed and I contemplated staying a few more days with the girls. Pete had to go home for work (booooo) and for a bachelor party (when I grow up I want to have Pete’s life). It seemed like the easy thing to do, just extend the trip! But I was only postponing the inevitable… at some point I had to go home.

While at my moms I have the luxury of someone helping out with laundry, a nice babysitter (my mom and an actual babysitter), no groceries to buy, a car, a pool, going out to dinner, etc. It feels like I’m staying at an all inclusive resort (I’m sure she’d really like hearing that 😬😬) Being in Palm Beach is a little bit like living in an alternate universe sometimes. But it’s def an alternate universe I could get used to. Why would anyone want to leave?? I am taken care of pretty much 100%. And my kids love being with their JB, aunts, uncles and cousins.

But it’s pretty much only the leaving part I hate. The actually getting home part is actually refreshing. I like coming home to a clean house and an empty refrigerator. The first 24 hours home are some of my favorite. We got home late. Put the girls down. Watched a little tv and got to sleep in our big bed. Sleeping in a king feels enormous after 10 days in a queen. When the baby cried this morning I got to go in and sit in a comfortable chair to feed her. Crawford had a dance class with friends. We went to her favorite bakery for a cupcake. Hit the grocery store to restock on essentials. Came home for naps. Played with our neighbors. I made dinner. We put the girls down. And now we get to sit just the two of us. In our house. Sounds simple, but days and nights like this are my fav.

Anyway… Like I said I hate the leaving part. And I miss my family (and the beach) but boy does it feel good to be home.

Last minute everything

I’ve been putting off Bennett’s baptism for months. I’m just not motivated. I finally joined the parish in dallas and hoped to start getting the ball rolling, but everything about it seemed inconvenient. None of my family lives here, both God parents are in gm, and my niece had to be baptized to. The idea of having another joint baptism seemed (in theory at least) to be the easiest way to have both girls baptized with the least amount of work from every one. (Back story: C and her cousin Buggy had a joint baptism 2 years ago at the church in PB.)

So right before leaving for PB last week I decide to randomly check to see if there were any available dates for baptism on our quick trip. And there was! March 17th! Saint Patrick’s day, how appropriate. So I quickly made some phone calls, scrambled to get paper work filled out and crossed my fingers that it would work out! 😬 Finally got a confirmation Thursday, dropped off paperwork Friday, and today (a Saturday) both B and her cousin were baptized.

B wore a long beautiful smocked white gown by Louise of London, I bought for her big sisters baptism because sadly both girls were too old and big to wear my old christening gown. After a short, sweet, and very loud (looking at you B and Wes) we celebrated at Saint Ambrous with a low key brunch and cake (publix bakery is amaze).

Anyway, thank you to the god parents, the uber patient Deacon, Saint Ann’s Church, and baby B. Feeling very blessed and so happy for my baby girl. ♥️😍♥️😍

It’s not a family vacation until someone gets sick

When we left for Fl a week ago Bennett had been sick for the better part of a week (let’s be real she actually almost has a stuffy nose in large part to big sister in Mother’s Day out. ) but before leaving she seemed healthy. We got here, I left for a bachelorette party and hoped for the best. When I got back my mom told me she had been up the night while I was gone.

I thought she was exaggerating… but low and behold I came home Sunday night to a very fussy and clingy baby. And then the fever came and I thought it must be teeth… until I actually took her temp. 103. On and off for 2 days. Poor girl! Luckily we have a great pediatrician in dallas who I called and they recommended I got in to just make she’s doesn’t need antibiotics.

My parents live on the north end of palm beach island and the closest pediatric urgent care is over half an hour away. 🙈 so b and I made the drive up to Palm Beach Gardens to a great children’s urgent care, Jack Nicklaus Children’s Outpatient Center. We got in there and it was clean and they were so sweet with baby B. I totally recommend this place if you need to take your child to the doctor on vacation in palm beach county or even if you live locally! Thankfully it is just a double ear infection and nothing serious and also lucky we were able to get it treated before flying home in a few days.

Thanks to the Doctor we saw and some amoxicillin, Benny boo will be back to her happy self in a few days! But until she is I’m going to soak up all the baby snuggles I can. It’s so messed up but sick babies are so cuddly it’s so sweet.

Saint Paddy’s Day picks

Waited until last minute and made this collage up on my phone while feeding B. (Side note: I don’t even own my own computer but maybe should think about getting one if km trying to be a “blogger” 😬) Annnyyyway, these are some of my last minute favorite green pieces for St. Patrick’s day and for spring! Going to try and link this stuff but I literally have no idea what I’m doing, so bare with me people.

Left to Right:

I guess this is how I start…

After countless hours scrolling through Instagram and checking it and checking it again and seeing if anyone has any new stories I decided I needed to do one of two things. Put down my phone or do something productive with it. And that’s when I decided to give blogging/instagramming a shot. Both sounded hard… but giving all of that up in the name of better parenting seemed too hard for now. 😬

A little about me:

My girls are cute and they’re also pretty funny. I def think I’m funny. I love clothes, shopping, cooking, finding good deals, interior design. Pretty much every “basic” girl thing that someone in their late 20’s/early 30’s likes, I like. I have an amazing husband (😘) who is also a really good dad. What can I say, I’m lucky.
